It’s the Holiday Season at the Good Earth!!!
Solstice is coming on December 21st and winter will officially arrive!
That means there’s LOTS of color and cheer
to be added to survive the deep grey days to come…
But – before we get to the fun – PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO FILL OUT OUR SURVEY AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS NEWSLETTER!!! And - THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO’S ALREADY FILLED ONE OUT!!! This really means a lot to us. We’re looking for what matters most to you about how you use the store. And our thanks for your effort is the chance to win a $40 gift certificate to be drawn from all of the returned surveys on December 14th. We also have blanks at the register if you’d rather fill one out the next time you’re in the store – and there are LOTS and LOTS of reasons for you to visit the store this time of year!
Here's the first reason:
There are wreaths and swags – custom decorated wreaths can make a real statement!
Kissing balls - the classic hanging decoration
Greens hanging baskets (that look good until the middle of February and can be nicely ramped up with a little extra decorating!)
Trees of all kinds!! – live Dwarf Alberta Spruce, cut Balsams,
Rosemary trees and Money trees – a tree for every taste!!!
Hand-made bows – with all kinds of ribbons to choose from – plaids are hot this year!
Porch pots & cemetery boxes - all unique – no cooky cutter arrangements here!
We had our first wreath decorating workshop last weekend and it was a blast! There’s still some room in the next few dates (call the store – 978-632-0991 to reserve your space). There will also be decorated wreaths available for you to pick from. You can even put in a custom wreath request, and we’ll do our best to make it happen – within the parameters of the decorations and ribbons on hand!
Wreath Decorating – limit – 8 decorators per session
Sun, 12/8 12pm, Wed, 12/11 3pm
$55/wreath with lots of color to choose from! Take a 12” balsam wreath and make it your own!
Here’s the next reason for stopping in to the store:
Now that all of your greens decorating needs are covered, it’s time to check out the local products just waiting to fill in those gaps on your presents list – products like honey, candles (several vendors), goat milk soap, bath and beauty products, maple syrup and sugar, embroidered towels, holiday cards and so much more.
More gifts await – look at this list!
Really great Felco pruners for all sizes of hand and grip – I’ve used Felco’s for at least 35 years and still have my first pair – and they still work just fine (with a new blade) ☺
Excellent gloves and other leather products – including sleigh bells and collar bells – thinking about one for our head doe in the doe herd…
Wild bird feeds, seeds, feeders and treats of all kinds – way tooooo many to list!
Colorful houseplants, amaryllis (including the giant double stem bulbs) and paperwhites – and some not so common plants for those who love the “different” in the plant world …check out the pitcher plant that’s growing really well! We can even customize a mixed dish garden if that’s what would work best (we did a mix of peperomias the other day – superb!!)
Treats for EVERY kind of animal you might have – and I do mean EVERY kind!!
Toys for dogs, cats, rabbits, Guinea pigs and ferrets
The Botanical Interest seed rack has been completely updated and refreshed -excellent for stocking stuffers
Mushroom kits that are a fool proof way of learning about ‘shrooms – including that most popular variety – Lion’s Mane - - need to try it myself – the brain you know!!
And the ever-popular gift certificate – for those spring purchases that can’t be made now ☺
As you can see – something for everyone on your list!!!
I do have one follow up to the last two newsletters that’s not so much fun…
- the ongoing drought – it is still with us.
Check here - for the ongoing update and you’ll see EXACTLY what I mean. It’s hard to remember that the drought is real when we’re shoveling snow, bundling up and dreaming of the holidays but it is good to remember… We’re coming up on a lovely window in the next 10 days of above average to average December temps and that means that you can get that soil mineralizing done, WiltPruf applied to evergreens of all kinds (and Japanese maples if you have one) and your roses protected with cones of wood pellets covered by straw. See this link to last year’s newsletter for details on managing your roses… and I won’t bore you with a repeat of the earlier two newsletters (but feel free to go back and check the details again!!!).
PLEASE take this weather window to help your key plants to come through the winter in as good a shape as they can. We’re always happy to answer questions and work through the details with you when you stop in the store so no worries about not getting it quite right – ANY help beats no help at all ☺
On That Note…Come and Join Us in Creating the Colors of the Season
See you at the store! 😊 978-632-0991
